It was June 11, 1977, that a group of ladies of Austin was invited to meet Dr. Gladys Merritt Ross, one of the founders of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. This meeting was held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1164 San Bernard Street. Other National and Regional Officers attending this initial invitational meting were Ann Williams, Southwest Regional Director. Dallas, TX; Josephine Young, Southwest Region Public Relations Chairpersons, San Antonio, TX; and Eddie S. Langdon of Gamma Tau Chapter of San Antonio, TX. Several other members of Gamma Tau chapter also attended this session. Subsequent to the initial meeting, additional ladies, representing the educational profession, were invited to unite with the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. through establishment of Austin’s Krinon club. On August 13, 1977, Southwest Regional Director, Ann Williams returned to Austin, Texas to officially organize the Krinon Club in the home of Rosa Lewis Clark. Regional Public Relations Chairperson, Josephine G. Young and Eddie S. Langdon, Sponsor of the Krinon Club, assisted the Regional Director. The first president of Delta Beta’s initial Krinon Club as Rosa Lewis Clark. Dr. E. Marie Gilbert succeeded Rosa Lewis Clark as Krinon President. Delta Beta Chapter of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. was charted on December 10, 1977 becoming the 94th Chapter of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. Austin, TX.  Chartering exercises for the Delta Beta Chapter were held at the Villa Capri Motel, Austin. TX. conducted by Founder Gladys Merritt Ross, Supreme Basileus, Billy J. Mason of Dayton, Ohio, Southwest Regional Director, Ann Williams and Southwest Region Member-At-Large, Minifred E. Kibler. Present at the chartering were members from Gamma Tau Chapter of San Antonio, Texas and members of Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Waco, Texas. The fourteen members initiated in this educational sorority were: Birdie Adams*, Dolores Hillyer, Minnie Miles, Merle Miles Adams*, Geneva Houston*, Myrna Roos, Cheryl Neely Brown, Clara Johnson*, Rosa Lewis Clark*, Vera Jones*, Janie Wilson* ,Eunice Wyatt*, E. Marie Gilbert*,Marjorie Lee* .
